Co-Founder & CEO

When I started Origins Functional Medicine, I set out to create a practice that I would want to go to as a patient. Now through the Incubator, we have created a fully integrative mentorship program that I wish I had when I started.

Early in my medical career, I began searching for answers regarding my own health. I wanted to heal in a holistic manner. I then asked myself,  “How can I become the type of physician I would want to see?”

In 2015, I started my functional medicine practice (Origins Functional Medicine) and eventually developed a successful membership model that intertwined quality of life, patient satisfaction and financial stability.  I grew from 5 to 100 members in 12 months and continued to grow.

After a few years, I realized I wasn't the only one who struggled with the many facets of running a practice. So I got to work putting all of our processes and systems down on paper to teach others.

I've come to realize my calling is in not only helping patients live a balanced life, but also in holistically supporting physicians.

I look forward to getting to know each of you, as you create the practice and life that is a true reflection of you, your purpose and values.

Cheryl Burdette, ND

Director of Clinical Education

As an undergraduate I was working my way through a dual major in pre-med as well as psychology. It seemed obvious to me that these fields surely must intersect and as we work with the mind we must work with the body and vice versa. Looking at any system in isolation seemed to be short sighted and limiting in terms of finding answers. I wonder if there was a discipline out there that looked at the body as whole rather than in pieces. I stumbled across a description of Naturopathic medicine, which I had never heard of before, but was exactly what I was looking for.

From there I moved to Seattle to do my 4 years of medical education at Bastyr University and completed my residency at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I have had the pleasure of educating physicians and treating patients at Progressive Medical Center, one of the largest integrative medical centers in the Southeast.

What I saw was that there was certainly no shortage of patients that needed this style of care, but yet there was in fact a shortage of physicians available to deliver it. Many doctors were interested in joining our practice and loved the philosophy of integrated medicine but needed support on how to implement care.

For over 20 years I have worked in the educational space to help doctors who are interested in integrative medicine bring that dream to life. It is a dream come true to be able to take all of the experience I have collected in this area and bring it to Origins Incubator that has found a reproducible and highly successful way of actualizing the dreams of doctors who wish to provide a more complete and wholesome style of care. Co-Founder & CLO

My story is very similar to a lot of functional medicine providers.

I was working in a conventional law firm, with long hours, high stress, and with the feeling that there had to be a better way to make a real difference. I had to do my own research and take the course of self-study to really understand the legal nuances of Linda's practice because all of the traditional healthcare attorneys we consulted did not have the answers.

So, I spent over a year with Evolution of Medicine, consulting practices on marketing and clinic management while I built Functional Lawyer. During that time, a handful of providers reached out to me to learn about our experience at Origins and to gain some guidance as they moved into a membership model.

That guidance eventually turned into the Origins Incubator Weekend Experience, and now we are excited to have turned that into the online Origins Incubator as well. We are so happy you are here, and we are honored to serve you as you seek to make a difference in the lives of your patients.

When I am not working, I enjoy sports, history, trivia, and playing with my two sons.

Dawn Leach

Systems Expert & Member Support

I first became interested in Functional Medicine during college when I experienced my own health crisis.

I became eager to heal holistically and learn more upon the birth of my son in 2010 to ensure he was as healthy as possible.

I have a degree in Business Administration, and have worked as an office manager in several different industries. I was hired as the Office Manager for Origins Functional Medicine shortly after its inception so I have been involved in the growth and transition of the practice over the years.

My specialties are organization, all office administrative duties, membership policies and execution, customer service, and financial tracking and reporting.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and days at the beach with my family.

Our Story

Our Commitment To You

We hope to be a small part of a movement that supports healers  to practice medicine in their own authentic way, leading to increased health, peace and wellness in our communities.
There is a disconnect between the mind and heart of our fellow physicians due to a variety of factors.
This disconnect is leading to dissatisfied providers which means less healers in the workforce.  And those that are present, are tired and burnt out.

We hope to be part of the solution.

In short, we're here to support the healers.
